Title Tag

Title is the most important for a site to get well ranked irrespective of any search engine. While designing your title there are few things worth remembering. The title of your site must be specific, accurate and most important small, say up to 50-55 characters. Big titles never pay more than small ones because the spiders themselves truncate long titles. Try to use good keywords and key phrases in your title, but avoid repetitions. Don’t use more than 2-3 keywords or key phrases, as it may be considered as keyword stuffing by some relevant spiders, and they may treat your nice title as spam. Keep different titles for different pages of your site.

Meta Tag

There are two classifications in meta tags.

· Keywords
· Description

Now a days, most of the search engines has begin to give lesser and lesser importance to these meta tags because of their abusive use by non optimizers or black hat optimizers (Personally I don’t consider such people as optimizers). But still some of the well-known search engines’ bots still read these tags. So, it can’t be suggested to just avoid these tags. Few guidelines about how to create these tags:

· Describe about the services you are providing through your website in ‘Description’ tag.

· Don’t keep your description too long. Limit it to 2-3 lines preferably.

· You can use keyword in ‘Description’ but with good and meaningful sentences.

· Don’t just stuff your ‘Description’ with keywords. It’ll be as useless as not using this tag at all.

· For stuffing keyword, you have ‘Keyword’ tag. Stuff it with as many keywords as you want.

· Don’t use irrelevant keywords.

· Make your ‘Description’ and ‘Keywords’ according to your page, and different for all page.

· Give more significance to the meta tags of home page, after all it is HOME page.
